Retirement plus redundancy
We have a local branch which employs six people. Three of the employees are 65 + and the company has decided, due to this branch not being financially viable anymore, to close it down within the next 12 months.
So we wish to make the three over 65's retire by giving minimum 6 months notice and make the other 3 employees redundant. Due to it's location we would be unable to offer any alternative role within the company.
My question therefore is can we retire 3 employees and make 3 redundant or should we make all 6 redundant?
Thanks
