Social Recruiting Conference:  30 November 2010

Put this date in your diary. You may have heard a lot about social media in HR and recruiting (we talk about it often here on HRzone), and the use of websites like LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter in attracting and sourcing passive candidates. While there is a lot of talk about this subject, what is sometimes lacking are real case studies of social media recruitment within UK and European organisations.

To address this and find real examples, we are partnering with the Social Recruiting Conference, organised by Social Recruiter and RCEuro. The conference will be held on 30 November 2010 in Central London and intends to gather leading employers and recruitment industry professionals, to passionately discuss and practically demonstrate the power of Social Recruiting.

The conference will be unlike any other Social Media Recruiting conference you may have attended. It will focus on Social Recruiting case studies, with measurable ROIs. These case studies will give corporate recruiters and hiring managers some great insights on how to integrate social media in your exisiting direct recruiting strategy.

You will hear from leading Global Recruiting heads and Corporate HR decision makers on how they are using social media tools for employer branding and also engaging with and attracting talent.

Some of the confirmed speakers include:

  • Matthew Jeffery, Global Talent Brand Director, EA
  • Jennifer Candee, Group Head of Talent Acquisition, SABMiller
  • Colin Minto, Global Head of Resourcing, G4S Plc
  • Bernd Holthaus,  Team Lead, Sourcing, Intel Europe

These speakers will discuss how they set about designing a social media recruiting strategy, how they have implemented it across their business and what ROIs and successes they have gained. They will also highlight what the future of social recruiting will be like within their organisations.

The conference will also feature presentations from Mel Carson, Community Manager, Microsoft Advertising, who will discuss Social Media and Community Management, Microsoft's case study. This will explore the other areas where social media has been applied in a large global organisation, with lots of ideas for corporate HR & recruitment marketing teams.

I am pleased to be a panelist at the conference, where I will be discussing the issue of Social Media Recruiting & Employee Engagement, a subject I am passionate about. This panel will be chaired by Jon Ingham, who you will know from his contributions to HRzone.

Join me there by registering through the conference website or via http://srconf.eventbrite.com/

Editor's Welcome

Hello! And welcome back as we enter 2012, with a busy year ahead of us all. With talk of double-dip recessions, a possible partial or even full break-up of the Eurozone and unemployment rates set to hit nearly 9%, topics such as organisational streamlining, staff resilience and talent management are likely to be on many an HR professional's lips over the next 12 months.

But to lighten the gloom here in the UK, we also have the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and its attendant public holidays to look forward to at the start of June. Followed by two weeks of Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August to 9 September, each generating their own excitement, but also issues to work through for hard-pressed HR departments trying to sort out the multifarious staffing issues in advance.

So with an interesting but challenging year to come, HRZone promises to be with you, supporting you all the way and providing our usual insightful blend of news, analysis, community blogs and expert comment to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. As ever, we love to hear from you too so feel free to either post your words of wisdom to our blog section yourself or, in the case of longer, more in-depth ‘expert voice’ articles, drop me a line with any ideas to cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk.....
