Golden Rules of Moving Office - #6

Back to blog homepage for: Moving office doesn't have to be daunting

One of the most common pitfalls when moving offices is businesses having a misplaced belief that they can save money by not engaging the services of external professional help. This is a false economy and, as a result, many office moves end up being a time-consuming and stressful job fraught with difficulty and expensive mistakes that could have been avoided.

#6 - ENGAGE THE RIGHT OFFICE MOVE PROFESSIONALS

After people costs property costs are most company’s next biggest expenditure. The decisions you make will have an impact on your company’s profitability. I believe that working with the right professional team is the single biggest must-do for any company thinking of moving office. They will guide you through the process, save you money in the long run (not just during the move project itself but over the full term of the lease) and also make sure you don’t make any critical mistakes.

Choosing the right office space, and then successfully negotiating the best terms for your company, is a complex and lengthy process which can be full of pitfalls. These pitfalls will only multiply if you choose to undertake the task without the experience and advice of professionals.

For the best results with your office relocation, I recommend you combine your understanding of your company priorities with the expert advice and market knowledge of office move professionals.

You can find approved moving office professionals in your area - such as Commercial Property Agents, Property Solicitors, Office Design & Fit-Out Partners and Office Removals Companies - on www.HelpMovingOffice.co.uk along with a range of other free information, guides and tips such as the Moving Office Checklist and all 10 of my Golden Rules of Moving Office.

Top tip: Working with moving office professionals will reduce the chances of any critical mistakes being made and ensure your office move happens on time, to budget and with the minimum hassle and disruption to the business.

Editor's Welcome

Hello! And welcome back as we enter 2012, with a busy year ahead of us all. With talk of double-dip recessions, a possible partial or even full break-up of the Eurozone and unemployment rates set to hit nearly 9%, topics such as organisational streamlining, staff resilience and talent management are likely to be on many an HR professional's lips over the next 12 months.

But to lighten the gloom here in the UK, we also have the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and its attendant public holidays to look forward to at the start of June. Followed by two weeks of Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August to 9 September, each generating their own excitement, but also issues to work through for hard-pressed HR departments trying to sort out the multifarious staffing issues in advance.

So with an interesting but challenging year to come, HRZone promises to be with you, supporting you all the way and providing our usual insightful blend of news, analysis, community blogs and expert comment to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. As ever, we love to hear from you too so feel free to either post your words of wisdom to our blog section yourself or, in the case of longer, more in-depth ‘expert voice’ articles, drop me a line with any ideas to cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk.....
