HR Tip: Probation periods and continuous service

Question: “We put new starters on a six month trial period during which we can dismiss them with only one week's notice. Does this period count as part of their continuous service?”

HR Tip:
Yes it does. The law does not differentiate between different types of contract when calculating continuous service. They are your employees throughout the whole period and thus the trial period counts towards continuous service.
