HRD & Payroll Solutions continues to bring HR Zone members a range of HR and payroll tips in 2007. A market leader in the provision of HR and Payroll training and nationally recognised professional qualifications, HRD & Payroll Solutions are highly experienced in teaching about common HR and payroll problems. A wide selection of tips, tricks and guidance can be seen below. HR Zone highly recommends that any tips are taken as a starting point for guidance only.

Question:"A woman accepted a job at my company but I then had to withdraw the offer before she started work. Am I required to pay her anything since she did not actually take up work with us?"

HR Tip:
As the woman accepted the job, it is no longer an offer that can be withdrawn. The fact that she has not actually joined you is immaterial. You have a legally enforceable contract with her. You therefore need to pay her the amount of agreed salary for the agreed notice period.
