Advanced Business Solutions (ABS) is in the running to receive a top award for its pioneering Human Capital Management (HCM) system. ABS is one of five companies that have reached the final in the Payroll/HR Software Product of the Year category of this year’s Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) Annual Payroll and Pensions Excellence Awards. The winners will be announced on the 4 October 2011 at the CIPP’s 27th Annual Payroll and Pensions Conference and Exhibition.

The CIPP’s Annual Payroll and Pensions Excellence Awards, now in their eighth year, recognise and honour payroll and pensions professionals together with HCM software providers for their achievements and contributions to the industry over the preceding twelve months.

To reach the final in the Payroll/HR Software Product of the Year category, ABS had to demonstrate that its HCM system is up to date, easy to use and well supported.

Simon Fowler, Managing Director of Advanced Business Solutions (Commercial) comments, “Reaching the final of these prestigious Awards is an excellent achievement which highlights the quality of both our software and support services. ABS’ HCM system is flexible, feature-rich, user friendly and complies with ongoing legislative requirements, making it the product of choice for many UK HR and payroll teams.”

HCM system customer, Graham Camfield, Accounting Systems Manager from The Brendoncare Foundation says, “We went from using manually-intensive systems which generated quantities of paper to a single integrated solution from Advanced Business Solutions. My assistant and I are no longer replicating effort and as a result, we have cut down the time taken to process the payroll by 25 per cent. We have also cut the time it takes to print payslips from one day to just fifteen minutes.”

ABS’ HCM system has been developed with the customer in mind. It can be easily customised to address the complexities of a particular organisation or industry, streamlining HR and payroll processes whilst cutting costs.

Editor's Welcome

Hello! I'm a great believer in the power of stories, whether they be folk tales, novels, films or TV dramas.

They have a wonderful ability to get complex moral or social issues over to us in a palatable, easy-to-understand way and can provide many lessons if only we care to look just a little bit below the surface.

But they can also act as a fun starting point for discussion and debate on rather more serious topics that are all too often brushed under the carpet and ignored.

Hence our decision to start up a Review slot on the site to look at those everyday stories that are all around us from an HR perspective.

Although we've been publishing book reviews (take a look at our Book Club list of suggested possible non-fiction works for evaluation here) for some time, you may also have noticed that we've been running a weekly home page blog on The Apprentice courtesy of The Chemistry Group for a while now.

And Pauline Wood, managing director at specialist retail headhunter, court & spark consulting, was likewise kind enough to write our first film review on the Headhunters movie.

But the big question is, why don't you give it a go yourself? There's a world of choice out there and I, like the rest of the community, would love to hear your thoughts and insights.

So next time you watch a movie, see a TV drama or read a novel that you think has an HR message worth sharing, send your review to me at cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk or post it directly to our blogs section at www.hrzone.co.uk/blogs.

So get critiquing and look forward to hearing from you very soon.....
