Advanced Business Solutions wins prestigious environmental award for HR Self-Service solution

- 299 reads

16 November 2011 - Advanced Business Solutions (Advanced), a market leading business applications and services provider scooped the silver at this year’s National Green Apple Environment Awards in recognition of the environmental benefits of its Human Resource (HR) Self-Service solution. This is the fourth successive year that Advanced has won a Green Apple Award.

The award was presented to Advanced Business Solutions’ Managing Director, Simon Fowler, by Dragon’s Den star, Chris Hopkins, during an awards ceremony at the House of Commons on 14 November 2011.

The National Green Apple Awards, run by The Green Organisation, recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice and are established as one of the most prestigious environmental award schemes worldwide.

Advanced’s HR Self-Service is a flexible web-based solution that makes it easy for employees to access the information their employer holds on them. Staff are able to view this information from their desktops and are given the opportunity to amend details, such as bank or address details. They can also make requests, such as holiday and training requests. By reducing the production and distribution of paperwork around an organisation, HR Self-Service cuts the negative environmental impact associated with paper-intensive HR and payroll processes.

Simon Fowler, Managing Director of Advanced Business Solutions (Commercial) says, “We are proud to have been presented with our fourth Green Apple award in recognition of our software’s business and environmental benefits.”

Fowler adds, “Our HR Self-Service solution has enabled paper-heavy HR and payroll administration to be replaced with a web-based solution. This not only reduces the destruction of trees but also helps organisations to reduce carbon emissions by cutting the use of printers, photocopiers and postal delivery vans.”

Advanced HR Self-Service solution is being used by hundreds of HR and payroll departments across the UK.

Editor's Welcome

Hello! I'm a great believer in the power of stories, whether they be folk tales, novels, films or TV dramas.

They have a wonderful ability to get complex moral or social issues over to us in a palatable, easy-to-understand way and can provide many lessons if only we care to look just a little bit below the surface.

But they can also act as a fun starting point for discussion and debate on rather more serious topics that are all too often brushed under the carpet and ignored.

Hence our decision to start up a Review slot on the site to look at those everyday stories that are all around us from an HR perspective.

Although we've been publishing book reviews (take a look at our Book Club list of suggested possible non-fiction works for evaluation here) for some time, you may also have noticed that we've been running a weekly home page blog on The Apprentice courtesy of The Chemistry Group for a while now.

And Pauline Wood, managing director at specialist retail headhunter, court & spark consulting, was likewise kind enough to write our first film review on the Headhunters movie.

But the big question is, why don't you give it a go yourself? There's a world of choice out there and I, like the rest of the community, would love to hear your thoughts and insights.

So next time you watch a movie, see a TV drama or read a novel that you think has an HR message worth sharing, send your review to me at cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk or post it directly to our blogs section at www.hrzone.co.uk/blogs.

So get critiquing and look forward to hearing from you very soon.....
