COA Solutions Demonstrates how to Remove the Stress of Budgeting and Forecasting at CIPFA Annual Conference and Exhibition 2009

- 1504 reads

The leading provider of business management and information systems to the UK mid-market, COA Solutions (www.coasolutions.com), is showcasing its budgeting and forecasting system, Collaborative Planning, on stand 51 at The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accounting (CIPFA) Annual Conference and Exhibition 2009 (23-25 June at Manchester Central).

COA Solutions is also sponsoring and presenting the ‘Do we need participatory budgeting?’ workshop at 13:45 on 25 June in conjunction with its corporate partner, the Public Management and Policy Association (PMPA). This workshop will question whether involving an authority’s constituents in the decision making regarding budgeting and spending priorities at a local level, is actually workable or just a fashionable but unnecessary approach.

At a time when the public sector is facing increasing pressure to meet budgetary targets and maximise efficiency, it is imperative that public bodies have the right budgeting and planning tools in place. COA Solutions’ Collaborative Planning system enables users to easily create and update budgets and forecasts and report on these budgets in real-time, helping public bodies to manage and monitor planned and actual spend whilst providing a single view of their finances. The London Borough of Havering Council is one such body that has recently signed a deal with COA Solutions to provide it with Collaborative Planning for improved budget development and monitoring.

Mark Thompson, Managing Director of COA Solutions, says, “Public organisations are under tremendous pressure to maintain tight control over their budgets without compromising on service levels. With the right systems in place, such as COA Solutions’ Collaborative Planning system, they can increase financial transparency and reduce the risk of overspending.”

COA Solutions will also be offering complementary ten minute massages performed by skilled practitioners on stand 51 to relieve attendees’ stresses, especially those who are experiencing issues with their current budgeting and forecasting processes.

CIPFA Annual Conference and Exhibition 2009 attendees interested in learning more about Collaborative Planning as well as other financial management systems provided by COA Solutions, should visit stand 51. Alternatively, they should attend the ‘Do we need participatory budgeting?’ workshop at 13:45 on 25 June, call 08451 605 555, email marketing@coasolutions.com or visit www.coasolutions.com

Editor's Welcome

Hello! And welcome back as we enter 2012, with a busy year ahead of us all. With talk of double-dip recessions, a possible partial or even full break-up of the Eurozone and unemployment rates set to hit nearly 9%, topics such as organisational streamlining, staff resilience and talent management are likely to be on many an HR professional's lips over the next 12 months.

But to lighten the gloom here in the UK, we also have the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and its attendant public holidays to look forward to at the start of June. Followed by two weeks of Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August to 9 September, each generating their own excitement, but also issues to work through for hard-pressed HR departments trying to sort out the multifarious staffing issues in advance.

So with an interesting but challenging year to come, HRZone promises to be with you, supporting you all the way and providing our usual insightful blend of news, analysis, community blogs and expert comment to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. As ever, we love to hear from you too so feel free to either post your words of wisdom to our blog section yourself or, in the case of longer, more in-depth ‘expert voice’ articles, drop me a line with any ideas to cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk.....
