15 July 2010 - UK business management and information systems provider, COA Solutions, has won an International Green Hero Award from an independent environment group, The Green Organisation, in recognition of the positive environmental contribution of COA Solutions’ software applications. Its employee expense management system with carbon tracking tool was given special recognition by The Green Organisation. This is the third year running that COA Solutions has been presented with a Green Hero Award.

COA Solutions, an Advanced Computer Software Plc company, was presented with the award by actress Carol Royle during a ceremony held at the Tower of London on 14 June 2010. Document management subsidiary, Version One, was also presented with a Green Hero Award in recognition of the company’s successful Clean and Green environmental initiative. This initiative has introduced new environmental measures across the company to encourage Version One’s staff, customers, suppliers and partners to become as green as possible.

Now in their sixteenth year, The International Green Hero Awards are established as one of the biggest environmental award schemes worldwide. Run by The Green Organisation, these awards honour companies that demonstrate environmental best practice.

Mark Thompson, Managing Director of COA Solutions, says, “This award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to developing software systems that respond to organisations’ environmental as well as business needs. Our solutions not only help to track emissions but can be used to reduce company-wide emissions by replacing manually-intensive and wasteful practices with electronic, automated processes.”

COA Solutions’ employee expense management system with carbon tracking tool, which was given special recognition by The Green Organisation, enables the electronic processing of staff expenses and allows organisations to calculate the carbon emissions produced by each employee during travel. With carbon emissions information to hand, organisations can identify the employees with the largest carbon footprints and implement measures to bring about CO2 reductions.

COA Solutions’ portfolio of business software applications includes financial management, procurement, human resource, payroll, business intelligence and electronic document management.

Editor's Welcome

Hello! And welcome back as we enter 2012, with a busy year ahead of us all. With talk of double-dip recessions, a possible partial or even full break-up of the Eurozone and unemployment rates set to hit nearly 9%, topics such as organisational streamlining, staff resilience and talent management are likely to be on many an HR professional's lips over the next 12 months.

But to lighten the gloom here in the UK, we also have the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and its attendant public holidays to look forward to at the start of June. Followed by two weeks of Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August to 9 September, each generating their own excitement, but also issues to work through for hard-pressed HR departments trying to sort out the multifarious staffing issues in advance.

So with an interesting but challenging year to come, HRZone promises to be with you, supporting you all the way and providing our usual insightful blend of news, analysis, community blogs and expert comment to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. As ever, we love to hear from you too so feel free to either post your words of wisdom to our blog section yourself or, in the case of longer, more in-depth ‘expert voice’ articles, drop me a line with any ideas to cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk.....
