DPG plc is the first UK-wide CIPD provider to be approved to offer the new CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Human Resource Management. This is the natural progression for holders of the CIPD Certificates in HR or Personnel Practice or aspiring/existing HR Managers.

The new qualification opens a brand new gateway to develop and progress your career in HR as CIPD Centre Director, Sarah McEvoy, explained, “The CIPD started phasing in their new qualifications during 2010 with the Foundation-level certificates which offer a superb way for individuals and organisations to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required to create next generation HR and L&D professionals equipped to help future proof their organisations.

“The next phase of the new qualifications has now arrived and we are proud to be the first national CIPD provider to offer the Diploma in Human Resource Management building on our track record as a leading provider of the CIPD’s foundation level qualifications, which are delivered in an innovative and inspiring format.”

“The really exciting thing is that there are thousands of people who desperately want to progress their HR career or bolster their professional standing, with an Intermediate level 5 CIPD qualification, they can now do so in a timely and cost effective manner.”

Programmes offering the new CIPD HR Diploma start in September 2011 and will be facilitated by a team of practitioner based HR facilitators including Joss Anderson, a renowned national and international HR professional who regularly delivers CIPD programmes across the globe.

The programme is designed to deliver an environment where practical HR knowledge, skills and understanding are shared and absorbed by all participants. It combines self-study based open learning materials with facilitated workshop events (typically just one day per month).

Editor's Welcome

Hello! I'm a great believer in the power of stories, whether they be folk tales, novels, films or TV dramas.

They have a wonderful ability to get complex moral or social issues over to us in a palatable, easy-to-understand way and can provide many lessons if only we care to look just a little bit below the surface.

But they can also act as a fun starting point for discussion and debate on rather more serious topics that are all too often brushed under the carpet and ignored.

Hence our decision to start up a Review slot on the site to look at those everyday stories that are all around us from an HR perspective.

Although we've been publishing book reviews (take a look at our Book Club list of suggested possible non-fiction works for evaluation here) for some time, you may also have noticed that we've been running a weekly home page blog on The Apprentice courtesy of The Chemistry Group for a while now.

And Pauline Wood, managing director at specialist retail headhunter, court & spark consulting, was likewise kind enough to write our first film review on the Headhunters movie.

But the big question is, why don't you give it a go yourself? There's a world of choice out there and I, like the rest of the community, would love to hear your thoughts and insights.

So next time you watch a movie, see a TV drama or read a novel that you think has an HR message worth sharing, send your review to me at cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk or post it directly to our blogs section at www.hrzone.co.uk/blogs.

So get critiquing and look forward to hearing from you very soon.....
