DPG plc is the first UK-wide CIPD provider to offer the new CIPD Level 3 Certificate in Human Resource Practice for those looking for a thorough grounding in HR or to bolster their existing skills with an internationally recognised professional qualification.

The new qualification opens the gateway to career development and progression in HR as DPG’s managing director, Robert Wagner, explained, “The CIPD is phasing in new qualifications during 2010 with this Foundation-level certificate offering a flexible way for individuals and organisations to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding required to create next generation HR professional equipped to help future proof their organisations.
“We are proud to be the first CIPD provider to offer the Certificate in Human Resource Practice building on our track record as the leading provider of the CIPD’s Certificate in Training Practice qualification.

“The really exciting thing is that thousands of people who want to break into the HR profession, or bolster their professional experience, with an internationally recognised qualification can now do so at a time and pace to suit them.”

Programmes offering the new CIPD HR qualification start in March 2010 and will be facilitated by a team of practitioner based HR facilitators including Derek Robertson, a renowned national and international HR professional who regularly works for the CIPD.

The programme is designed to deliver an environment where practical HR knowledge , skills and understanding can be shared and absorbed by all candidates. It combines self-study based on learning materials for the HR profession with facilitated workshop events (typically just one day per month) with the certificate award based on written and observed skills based assessments.

The content of the programme is as follows:

• Understanding organisations and the role of Human Resources
• Developing yourself as an effective Human Resources practitioner
• Recording, analysing and using Human Resources information
• Supporting change in organisations
• Developing coaching skills for the workplace
• Resourcing talent
• Supporting good practice in performance and reward management

So confident in the quality of their programmes DPG is supporting this CIPD programme with its usual guarantee that candidates will pass the programme or have their course fee refunded in full.

Editor's Welcome

Hello! And welcome back as we enter 2012, with a busy year ahead of us all. With talk of double-dip recessions, a possible partial or even full break-up of the Eurozone and unemployment rates set to hit nearly 9%, topics such as organisational streamlining, staff resilience and talent management are likely to be on many an HR professional's lips over the next 12 months.

But to lighten the gloom here in the UK, we also have the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and its attendant public holidays to look forward to at the start of June. Followed by two weeks of Olympic Games from 27 July to 12 August and the Paralympics from 29 August to 9 September, each generating their own excitement, but also issues to work through for hard-pressed HR departments trying to sort out the multifarious staffing issues in advance.

So with an interesting but challenging year to come, HRZone promises to be with you, supporting you all the way and providing our usual insightful blend of news, analysis, community blogs and expert comment to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. As ever, we love to hear from you too so feel free to either post your words of wisdom to our blog section yourself or, in the case of longer, more in-depth ‘expert voice’ articles, drop me a line with any ideas to cath.everett@siftmedia.co.uk.....
