Success in a recession: What not to do

So far in this series I have looked at some of the qualities needed to succeed, particularly the qualities needed in adversity such as a recession. Based on my research, there are certainly some characteristics or skills which, no matter what your industry, what your role or what you regard as success, are important to have in your tool box.
But it also became clear to me when talking to the experts and reflecting on my own experiences, that you could do all of these things right and still not succeed.
