Brown creates new Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

The prime minister has created a new Department for Business, Innovation and Skills after scrapping the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) just two years after it was formed.
- The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) has been scrapped
- Lord Mandelson will head the new Department for Business, Innovation and Skills
- John Denham, secretary of state for the former DIUS, has become communities secretary
