Pay attention to health or lose half your workforce in 2010
Companies that couldn’t be bothered with the health of their staff risk losing half of them by the end of the year - article and audio clip.
More than half of British employees say their company was unconcerned with their wellbeing during the recession, and in return a similar number intend to test the job market this year, new research shows. Almost four in ten of all respondents believe the company was too focused cutting costs to care about their staff (38%) while one in eight claim their boss was primarily concerned with survival.
These numbers concur with a separate poll of HR managers, which shows half admit they and their company weren’t bothered with staff concerns during the recession. Of those, many said there was a constant threat of job loss that led to stress (47%) while some claim a ‘work all hours’ culture made staff ill.
